Alexander Kotti’s “Spitak” full-length feature film is about the devastating earthquake of December 7, 1988. The film is based on the story of a man who left his wife and daughter and left for Moscow. About the tragedy in Spitak, he leaves his Russian girlfriend and returns to the Homeland to find his home, his family members.
The film is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the earthquake.
“We were filming in Moscow, Yerevan, Ashtarak, Dilijan.
We studied the 1988 chronology, got acquainted with the documentary, watched a huge number of photos, trying to reproduce the reality through decorations, “said the director.
Aleksandr Kott emphasized that in the film, through the image of a small Anoush, who believed in the miracle, he wanted to present the miracle brightly.
“If we believe, then it is possible. This story is about miracle, “he emphasized.
“Spitak” will soon come up with a big screen. It is also planned to be shown in Russia and other countries.
The film was created by our compatriot Serj Tankian.
In 2018, at the 40th Moscow International Film Festival, the film won the Best Director Award.
The film was presented by National Cinema Development, “Eurimage” Foundations and “Telesto” Cinema Company.
