On October 5-7, Stepanakert will host the ArtSakh Fest Festival of Contemporary Art, in which artists from Artsakh, Armenia and about 30 foreign artists will take part.

The festival program includes a research exhibition, outdoor concerts, theater, visual art, public art, and etc.

The project was developed in the Pro Lab of the Institute of Contemporary Art.

The festival will be held at the Vahram Papazyan Drama Theater in Stepanakert, which is currently in a poor state (the last time it was restored 38 years ago).

Over the past 7 years, this building is unsafe and the theater staff temporarily moved to the Palace of Culture.

“The aim of the festival is to reconstruct the Drama Theater named after Vahram Papazyan to all Armenians, to revive the building of the Stepanakert Drama Theater for his role in the formation and development of the community of artists and spectators,” said Anna Kamai, program manager of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Yerevan.

The aim of the festival is to present international artists in order to acquaint with the local culture and exchange experience.

The festival will be attended by the famous Armenian  musician Arto Tunchboyachyan. Head of the world-famous Armenian Naval Orchestra, founder of the famous American-Armenian jazz quartet Night Ark, co-author of the musical project “SerArt” (in cooperation with Serge Tankian). In 2006, he won the Audience Award at the BBC Radio 3 Awards World Music Awards. 2011 received a Grammy nomination.
